Annual Events!
New Member Initiation: One of Mortar Board's oldest traditions, this early May event celebrates the new class with a ceremony at Mirror Lake. New members wear white robes and link with current members around the Oval, then proceed to Mirror Lake with friends and family.
New Member Orientation: The Officers host the new class for a day of activities, planning and relationship building in the Younkin Success Center in May.
New Member Retreat: At this overnight retreat, the Member Development Chair helps the new class set goals for the new year and elect their officers!
Welcome Week Pillow Fight: Join Mortar Board every autumn for the annual Pillow Fight!
Adopt A Family: Our Service Chairs collect donations to help a local families every holiday season.
Faculty/Staff Reception: The OSU senior honoraries, Mortar Board & Sphinx, recognize faculty members who positively impacted their college experiences at this February event.
Selections Day: All Mortar Board members read and vote on hundreds of applications at this all-day April event. The First Vice President coordinates our selection of 50 dynamic new classmates.
Tapping: You'll see our members all over campus during Tapping week as the Second Vice Presidents welcome the new class!
Farewell Champagne Toast: This is the last class event. During spring finals week, we meet in Mortar Board Court and give a toast (champagne or sparkling apple cider) to our accomplishments!
